COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (May 31, 2018) Colorado Nonprofit Association and Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNE) based in Colorado Springs are pleased to announce their agreement to combine. As of July 1, CNE will become Colorado Nonprofit Association of the Pikes Peak Region.
“For more than 25 years, Center for Nonprofit Excellence has been a champion for all nonprofits within the Pikes Peak Region,” said Abby Sienkiewicz, executive director of CNE who will continue to direct the Pikes Peak Region operations of the Association. “We are excited about how this opportunity will connect the 1,200 nonprofit organizations in our community to a true statewide network of nonprofits, as well as provide our existing members with additional benefits to help amplify their impact.”
Colorado Nonprofit Association will welcome CNE’s existing members from the Pikes Peak Region into its current membership structure. As members of Colorado Nonprofit Association, these nonprofits will continue to have locally delivered professional development programs, roundtables and gatherings. In addition, CNE members will have access to the Association’s free statewide trainings for staff and board members, public policy and advocacy, online career center and other member benefits.
“Combining our organizations allows us to more effectively serve Pikes Peak Region nonprofits and strengthen the nonprofit community statewide,” said Renny Fagan, Colorado Nonprofit Association’s president and CEO, whose hometown is Colorado Springs. “We will be better equipped to provide high-quality education and events for an even larger number of nonprofits in the Pikes Peak Region, and we will be more effective in advocating for nonprofits in the region at the state capitol.”
“Now more than ever, our community benefits from a robust nonprofit sector ranging from small neighborhood associations and performing arts groups, to large museums, hospitals, universities and social service agencies that provide programs, services and advocacy,” said Cathy Robbins who led CNE in its early days and is now senior vice president and director of regional partnerships at the El Pomar Foundation. “The merger of Colorado Nonprofit Association and Center for Nonprofit Excellence continues the support of that sector with training, opportunities to network and peer learning and a strong voice for all.”
Colorado Nonprofit Association will continue to deliver on its mission of ensuring Colorado has the nation’s most effective, vibrant and innovative nonprofit community.
